Tokyo Olympics: Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem reached the final of the javelin throw.
Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan has qualified for the finals of the men's javelin throw at the Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. After which there is hope for Pakistan to win its first medal in the Olympics after 29 years.
Pakistani athlete Arshad Nadeem finished first in Group B of the qualifying round in Tokyo, while he finished third overall in Group A and B.
Arshad Nadeem won the first position in Group B by throwing a long throw of 85.16. Other qualifiers in his group are from the Czech Republic and Germany, who threw 84.93 and 84.41, respectively.
In the men's javelin throw qualifying round, India's Neeraj Chopra topped Group A with a throw of 86.65. In Group A, the second place went to Germany and the third place went to the Finnish athletes who threw long throws of 85.64 and 84.50 respectively.
To reach the final, a throw of 83.50 was required in the qualifying round. Apart from Arshad Nadeem, 15 other athletes were also present in Group B.
Overall, Indian players came first, German players second and Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem third in both the groups.
The final of the javelin throw will be played on August 7 in which Arshad Nadeem will represent Pakistan.
Arshad Nadeem, 24, is from Mian Channu and is affiliated with WAPDA in Pakistan. He set a unique record in the 2019 South Asian Games in Nepal. He not only won a gold medal in the javelin throw 86.29 meters, but also broke the record of the National and South Asian Games.
Arshad Nadeem has also represented Pakistan at the international level and has won several times, including the 2017 Islamic Solidarity Competition in Baku, Azerbaijan and the bronze medal won at the 2018 Asian Games.
